Okay, let’s just get something straight.
You don’t have to like Homestuck or MLP:FIM.
There. Problem solved.
I happen to like both.
Reasons-
Homestuck:
I like the characters.
Most are pretty diverse and have shown a lot of development over the course of the comic. They aren’t stereotypes and I think they’re likable, with strong attributes and flaws.
I like the plot line.
Apocalypse-based stories really interest me, and it’s not just one of those zombie Armageddon-type stories either. I like the idea of the multiple universes and I think it’s genuinely exciting.
I like the humour.
Well fuck me if it’s too “childish” or “risque” for you guys. I think a lot of things the characters say are pretty fucking funny with undertones of actual intellect. The fact that every other word is a swear doesn’t bother me in the slightest. If you take two seconds to look at my profile you’ll see I use these in excess amounts. I also have grown up around a lot of swearing. Tough shit, it exists, it’s not illegal, it won’t kill you, get used to it.
My Little Pony:
I like the characters.
They’re adorable. They’re smart. They’re funny. They have morals. They are better people ponies than you’ll ever be.
I like the plot line.
The episodes are pretty creative with general-based ideas but they strive to be more interesting than your generic stories that every sitcom has to possess at least one instance of.
I like the humour.
Personally, I laugh a lot at that show. Too bad if you don’t find it as funny as I do.
These are all debatable points, based upon my interests, which I’m sure not all of you follow, but guys, please just take a second to read these.
Hell, I don’t like the Twilight book/movie series or Justin Bieber’s/Katy Perry’s/(insert some other incredibly popular artist)’s music and yet those seem to be quite beloved by many people around me. I deal with it and I try not to bitch about it every time someone mentions it.
To be honest, I think Andrew Hussie and Lauren Faust are funny, smart, and great people when it comes to getting fans. More famous than the lot of you, and they possess a larger conglomerate of fans than haters.
